Update notice from Ken Lett, CQLS Infrastructure Mananger for Biocomputing

Hello CQLS Community,

Due to technical issues, we were not able to complete the Gitlab migration and upgrades. We have restored access to the old Gitlab, please let us know if you run into any issues.

We will re-schedule the upgrade once we have resolved the technical issues.

Thanks,

Notice from Ken Lett, CQLS Infrastructure Manager for Biocomputing

Hello CQLS Community,

On Thursday, Oct 17, CQLS will be migrating its Gitlab instance into the Wildwood cluster. This will require an extended time offline, while we migrate all of the data and perform upgrades to bring Gitlab current with security patches and new features.

MAJOR Changes:

  • ONID Passwords: After the upgrade, you will use your ONID password to log in to Gitlab, your old CQLS password will no longer work. If you do not have an ONID account, you will need to make sure you have a password set in the Wildwood cluster, email us if you are not sure.

  • Git over ssh port 732: In the past, using git ssh URLs to clone repositories (ex: git@gitlab.cqls.oregonstate.edu:/) used ssh on a special port, 822. If you have settings in your .ssh/config file to set this port, you'll need to change that to 732. No other changes will be needed to continue using your cloned repository.

  • UI Changes: We will be upgrading Gitlab to the latest version, some UI elements and menu items may appear in different places.

We will put Gitlab into maintenance mode on Thursday at noon, and expect to have Gitlab fully migrated and updated by 5pm. You will not have access to your repositories or the Gitlab web interface during this time.

Please contact us as soon as possible if this outage will interfere with important work, or if you have questions about the move.

Thanks,

Ken
